The choral / [videorecording] ; directed by Nicholas Hytner ; written by Alan Bennett.
In 1916 Yorkshire, the ambitious committee of the Ramsden Choral Society struggles to keep their tradition alive as the Great War depletes their ranks. They recruit young local males and a mysterious, uncompromising new chorus master, Dr. Henry Guthrie. As conscription looms over the community, the group finds solace and strength in the music they create together amidst the chaos of war.
